Needlework: Mint Green Baby Sweater and Feather and Fan Afghan

My favorite sweater pattern once again, this time in mint green along with a soft and comfy "feather and fan" pattern baby afghan. You can find the sweater pattern in the Columbia Minerva Book 766 "Beautiful Baby Book", Infants to Four Years on . The pattern is "Jack Frost".
I don't recall where I found the afghan pattern as it is hand written inside one of my pattern books. Perhaps this will tempt you to pick up those knitting needles!

Five 4 oz. skeins of knitting worsted
size 10 1/2 circular needles

Cast on 154 sts. K 6 rows
Start pattern:
Row 1: K5, K2 tog four times *(YO, K1) eight times; K2 tog. eight times
Repeat from * across to within 13 sts from the end. K2 tog four times, K5
Row 2: K5, purl across, K5
Row 3: K across
Row 4: K5, purl across, K5
Repeat these four rows for 5 skeins, leaving enough yarn to end with 6 knit rows. It is helpful to use a marker for side borders.

I've always wanted to make baby clothes! After buying all the stuff for it, does it save money as opposed to just buying them though?

This is lovely. I'm not much of a knitter, but I'm going to bookmark this and give it a try in the future. Thank you!

Thats gorgeous! As a fellow knitter I'm ashamed to admit that at 5 months pregnant I haven't knit a single thing for this baby!!!!!! For shame, for shame. Thanks for giving me some inspiration :)
