Needlework: February Valentine's Flag

February brings Valentines to mind and the sentiment I sewed onto this flag is a nod to the Necco candy hearts we have all enjoyed over the years. Click here to read about the history of Valentine's Day.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY !

Needlework: March Flag

Soon after hanging this flag we had another 10" of snow just as the last of the previous blanket of white had melted, exposing our grass once again. Now it seems it will be April before we are done with the fluffy flakes.
To see more on making flags, see entry for October flag. I made this flag in colors which reflect the flag of Ireland.
Happy St. Patrick's Day !

Needlework: January Flag

This is a flag I purchased from Flag Fables.
They offer a varied selection of flags, if you are in the market. However, it is more ecomnical to make your own.
And the day after I took the photo above, it looked like this in the photo below !
Another 6-8" of snow fell and the flag was billowing in the strong winds- our
New Year's snowstorm !

Needlework: Halloween Flag Making

Making flags was a past sewing project of mine and shown are Halloween flags, one of which will hang outside our home for the month of October. These are not too difficult to make once you figure out the knack of overlapping the fabrics and where to cut away from the reverse side. The fabric is carried by JoAnn Fabric stores and some instructions can be found at http://www.karlin1.com/flag.htm
