This sauce is delicious on vanilla ice cream with or without apple cobbler. My mother found the recipe years ago and we have been making it ever since. It is really somewhat like a caramel sauce.
1 cup brown sugar - firmly packed
1/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons white corn syrup
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Heat to boiling, while stirring, to 220 degrees on a candy thermometer or boil 3 minutes. Delicious over ice cream and keeps nicely in the refrigerator.
