Needlework: Napkins with Buttonholes

On our recent trip to Italy, I noticed that the cloth napkins on the planes had their own button hole in one corner.  This is a genius idea !  Restaurants should follow suit.  I decided it to try it in some of my napkins at home.  It really is a clever way to protect clothing while eating - especially Italian....
Fold napkin and mark one inch down from point.
Measure down 3/4 to one inch from first mark. I did one inch but think
3/4" might work better.
This will be where you make your buttonhole
Make a buttonhole according to your machine directions.
Slit open your button hole.
And button onto the top button on your shirt !

  8. That's an excellent idea - especially for folks like my husband and I who seem to wear more of their pasta than what makes it to their mouth. ;)

  14. This is a super idea. I may just make some slits, since I don't sew. My Mom is handicapped and only has the use of one hand. This will make it a lot easier to keep her clothes clean. Thank you so much for this great idea!
