Needlework: Sports Pillow from Tree Skirt

This is the finished product...
which began as a Christmas tree skirt that I found on clearance at TJMaxx marked down from $19.99 to $2.00.  I just couldn't leave it there.  However, I had no desire to use it as a tree skirt.
So today I revamped it into a pillow cover by folding it over and cutting across the fold.  Then I overlapped the back pieces where they were split to go around the tree and sewed around the edges making it large enough to encase a queen size bed pillow. The overlap in the back provides the opening for the pillow.
I zigzagged the top raw edges and left the extra fabric intact because the material sheds badly.  The excess fabric just provides extra cushioning inside the pillow.
GO RED SOX !!!

  6. Oh how wonderful! Another crafter who believes in re-using found items. I may not be a Boston Red Sox fan but I am a fan of repurposing in unusual ways.
