In one corner of our living room stands an antique desk of sorts which belonged to my uncle and beside it is a thrift store find of an antique rocker which I had reupholstered. I then covered the desk chair in the same fabric. The little ottoman is from TJMaxx.
Sitting on the rocker are a pair of teddy bears I had fashioned from my mother's mink stole and hanging on the wall is an oil painting of a mill which I did years ago.
To get in touch with the woman who stitched these bears, email her at vicandang@comcast.net. Her fee is most reasonable. The bears are jointed and the signature monogram, which was on the inside of the stole, was incorporated into one of the paws.
The desk is a perfect location for a display of family photos such as the one here of my mother wearing her "new" mink stole on Easter in 1958.

That's wonderful to have your little bears; and then to also have the great Easter picture. The whole corner is so inviting. This is my first time visiting, and I'm loving your pictures on your side bar. I've been to London and Paris at that same time of the year - magical. Sally
love to see people decorate with MEANINGFUL objects like that. great job on the bears.
The desk is such a beautiful piece and those bears are so creative. I've never seen anything like them, but it is a brilliant use for an old mink. There are not many events where a mink is appropriate, so this is a great idea. Thanks for sharing.
What a great way to use and old heirloom. I wish I had some of my grandmother's old ones. I really like the idea.
Your desk is so cozy. And the mink teddies are adorable. Really pretty!
I love the mink teddy bears. I have one too but the dog managed to get ahold of it. :-(
I love this idea! My granpda just passed away recently and my cousin just said we should make some teddies for the great-grandkids from his clothes. Not mink, but so cool! I hadn't thought of that before, but I think it's such a good one :)
Thanks for linking at Lucky Star Lane!

Your desk is super. Reminds me of something I'd expect to see in a historic home. But seriously, the mink teddy bears are priceless. My grandma had a stole just like your mom's. -- Jane F.
