Crafts: Dish Towel Cutlery Carrier

These carriers are easy to make and provide a useful way to provide cutlery at a picnic or bbq.  The towel can be used as a napkin as well.  If you have access to an Ocean State Job Lot, these 100% cotton towels were 4 for $2.00.  Can't beat the price.
Start with a standard dish towel about 15 x 24 1/2.  Lay the towel, pattern side down, and fold up 7" from the 15" side.  With a sewing machine, stitch one end of the folded towel closed.  Next, fold the ribbon in half; sandwich about 1/2 inch of the ribbon's fold into the towel's other open side.  Sew together to form one large pocket.
Form the three 2 1/2" pockets by sewing vertical lines through folded towel.
The top of the towel will be a flap to cover the silverware once you roll the tote.  Tie the ribbon around the roll to close.

ok I need to make one of those! I have lots of fabric from when I thought I'd have time to make my own clothes. I'm discovering that household items are much faster (they dont' need as much fitting!) I've subscribed to you in Google Reader. Hope you're enjoying the UBP!
