Recipe: Dog Bone Treats

I found this recipe at Brown Eyed Baker and it just might be a keeper!  I did substitute non fat dry milk and water for the low fat milk.  I have a feeling it won't make a huge difference in taste since our grand-puppy, Ralphie,  doesn't seem too particular just how he gets his peanut butter fix!  Ralphie is my son and daughter-in-law's 18 month old French Bull Dog.
I also reduced the cooking time to about 12 minutes since my dog bone cutters are on the smaller side.
Peanut Butter Doggie Bones
Ingredients:
2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 cup natural peanut butter
1 cup low-fat milk
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a bowl, combine flour and baking powder. In another bowl, mix peanut butter and milk. Add wet mixture to dry, and mix well.
Turn out dough on a lightly floured surface and knead. Roll out to 1/4-inch thickness and cut out shapes. Place on a greased baking sheet and bake 20 minutes or until lightly brown. Cool on a rack and store in an airtight container.  I also froze these and they were fine.
The Taste Test
Good to the last crumb...

Those sound very tasty. Why does the dog get all the good stuff? You have the most darling puppy and he obviously loves his treats. I must hide this post from my husband as he will be expecting me to start baking for the dog, as well! I don't even bake for him!!! Great post and thank you for sharing it on the Boardwalk Bragfest!
