Homemaking-Remodeling: Master Bathroom Remodel

Before and After

Before and after...

The master bath remodel a few years ago was a bit more complicated than our other two bathroom projects. In addition to all new fixtures (Lowe's), it involved switching the tub and shower locations to make maximum use of the space. The shower area has a molded seat and shelves by Kohler.
The new cherry cabinets were custom made and I designed them to jut out in the middle to add some interest to the length of the bathroom.
The counters, with their uniquely shaped seamless sinks, are "Surell" by Formica and we are very pleased with the results.

We also chose to tile halfway up the wall which added some weight to the lower half of the bathroom which has a skylight and a vaulted ceiling. And I had the tile laid on the diagonal which gave the bathroom more interest.

I made the new window curtain by choosing two complimentary fabrics and sewing around the perimeter with right sides together. After turning right sides out, I then sewed a rod pocket on both ends. Thread one rod pocket on the rod then twist the fabric before threading the other rod pocket next to it. By doing this, both fabrics show at the same time providing an interesting effect.

Although I had also chosen the original mauve colors, I felt the "look" became very locked into the 80's and it was time for a change. One that we can live with for years to come !
